What is Built on Layers?

Built on Layers is a studio that designs, prints and sells personalized accessories, fidgets, flexis and display pieces, plus print-at-home STL and 3MF files. Every piece is designed, printed and checked by hand in our studio. Our catalog links to our Etsy shop, and our memberships run through Patreon.

What do I get with the Print Club?

Print Club members get access to our Patreon model library while subscribed, downloadable STL and 3MF files, new models as they are added to the collection, and personal-use printing permission. It is digital files only and a 3D printer is required. This tier does not include permission to sell physical prints or to share, resell or redistribute files.

What is the Merchant Club?

The Merchant Club is for makers who want to print our designs and sell the prints. Members get the member-only downloads plus permission to sell physical prints of Built on Layers designs. The files themselves stay with the member and are never for resale or redistribution. The complete Merchant Club terms are published on the tier page on Patreon and in the Merchant License Agreement on this site.

Can I sell prints made from your files?

Our Etsy digital downloads are sold as personal-use kits, so print them for yourself and as gifts. Selling physical prints needs a Merchant Club membership on Patreon, which includes permission to sell physical prints of Built on Layers designs.

Can I share, resell or redistribute the files?

Accepted Answer

No. Please do not share, resell or redistribute the files. Designs remain the property of Built on Layers LLC, and even with a membership the digital files stay with the member and are never for resale or redistribution.

Yes. You can follow Built on Layers on Patreon at no cost.

How long does it take for my order to ship?

Most items are made on demand, so please allow 7 to 10 business days for us to prepare your order before it ships. We do not process or ship orders on weekends or national holidays.

How long does delivery take, and where do you ship?

Once shipped, orders typically arrive within 3 to 5 business days, depending on your location and the shipping method chosen at checkout. We currently ship within the United States only. You get a confirmation email with tracking when your order is on its way.

What if my order arrives damaged or is the wrong item?

Contact us within 48 hours of delivery with a photo and a short message about what went wrong. We may ask for photos to file a carrier claim, and we will work with you to make it right. Email support@builtonlayers.com.

Why can I see layer lines on my 3D print?

Accepted Answer

Every print is made on a 3D printer, not poured into a mold, so layer lines and minor imperfections are part of the look. That is the idea behind the name. Each item is inspected before it ships.
